Nourishing your spirit

Ministry specializing in pastoral care and education

Faith and fellowship provide hope and strength during every life stage. The Church Home ministry at Montgomery Place offers spiritual support and care for all residents regardless of faith traditions and beliefs.

The Church Home chaplains nurture relationships with Montgomery Place residents by participating in activities and maintaining a reassuring presence. They build rapport infused with good will and humor.

Following its Episcopal heritage, the Church Home celebrates traditions of all faiths through worship in the Chapel. It serves as a haven for meditation, devotion and conversation.

Everyone faces life challenges. Those later in life often prove the most difficult because they feel so inevitable—loss of family and friends, illness, declining abilities and finally one’s own death.

For Montgomery Place residents, the Church Home:

  • Provides grief counseling for residents and their families
  • Visits residents in their apartments and when they are hospitalized
  • Assists with crisis intervention
  • Conducts bereavement and aging support groups
  • Supports Montgomery Place staff members in their roles as caregivers

The Church Home Board of Directors

The Church Home Board continues the work started in 1888 by its founder Rev. Walter Delafield, director of an Episcopalian parish in Hyde Park, to provide housing and pastoral care for older adults.
